Phased Reopening (Phase III):

Tyson Library will begin Phase III of our reopening plan on Monday, August 1st, 2020.  In keeping with the CDC recommendations there will be a few changes in place.

Hours of operation starting August 1st 2020 will be:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 am – 5 pm.
Tuesday and Thursday
10 am – 8 pm
Saturday 10 am – 3 pm.

MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED TO ENTER THE LIBRARY PER GOVERNOR HOLCOMB’S MASK MANDATE. We ask that all patrons sanitize their hands before handling library materials. All hard surfaces, including computers, will be sanitized by staff several times throughout the day.

*All returned items will go through our 7 day sanitation process.*

If you returned an item and it is still listed on your account, please know that we are taking every precaution to keep our community safe. We are quarantining and sanitizing all items entering the library for seven days before they are able to be checked in and shelved. We are aware that our patrons are receiving email notifications stating returned items are still checked out. If it has been longer than EIGHT days since you have returned the item and it is still listed on your account, call us and we will be glad to help.

Computers will be available by appointment only and only for essential use (unemployment, government benefits, etc.).  To allow for social distancing only 2 computers will be available at a time for 1 hour time slots.  You may bring only 1 person with you if you need help on the computer.  Call the library at 812-689-5894 to schedule a computer.

Storytime will be done virtually this fall, you will need to request to join our Facebook group in order to gain access to the weekly storytime videos.

Curbside pickup will continue as an option with some minor changes to the process.

The procedure for curbside pick up is as follows…

  1. Call at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a pick-up time.
  2. When you arrive for your pick-up call the library at 812-689-5894 to let us know you are here.
  3. Remain in your vehicle and a library staff member will bring your items out and either place them in your opened trunk or front sidewalk.
  4. After the staff member has left, please collect your items from the sidewalk.
  5. If you have any items to return, they can be left in the library book drop or handed to the library employee.

Please be patient with us during this transition period as we make every effort to keep out patrons and staff safe.  Please know that all our efforts are done with your safety and ours as a top priority.  Thank you so much for your support, and we hope to see you soon!
