Phased Reopening (Phase II):
Tyson Library will begin Phase II of our reopening plan on Monday, June 1. We are very excited to reopen for our patrons. In keeping with the CDC recommendations there will be a few changes in place.
We can only accommodate up to 10 patrons, including children, in the library at one time so when you come you will pickup a timer from the table in the lobby. If no timers are on the table, you will need to wait outside until one becomes available. If you are a person who needs to use our handicapped access door, please call ahead so we can reserve a timer for you. All play areas will be unavailable, but you will have 30 minutes to browse and choose your items for checkout. WE ASK THAT ALL PATRONS SANITIZE THEIR HANDS BEFORE HANDLING LIBRARY MATERIALS.
All meeting rooms will remain closed at this time. Computers will be available by appointment only and only for essential use (unemployment, government benefits, etc.). To allow for social distancing only 2 computers will be available at a time for 1 hour time slots. You may bring only 1 person with you if you need help on the computer. Call the library at 812-689-5894 to schedule a computer.
All hard surfaces, including computers, will be sanitized by staff several times throughout the day. Summer Reading will be done virtually; however, there will be activity bags and prizes available for the kids to pick up. You will need to call the library to reserve an activity bag. There will also be a story walk set up outside the library with a different story to read together each week as well as exercises to do for fun.
Hours of operation through the month of June are:
Mon. – Fri. 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Sat. 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Curbside pickup will continue as an option throughout the month of June. We look forward to seeing everyone again!
The procedure for curbside pick up is as follows…
- Call at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a pick-up time.
- When you arrive for your pick-up call the library at 812-689-5894 to let us know you are here.
- Remain in your vehicle and a library staff member will bring your items out and either place them in your opened trunk or on the table set up on the front sidewalk.
- After the staff member has left, come to the table to collect your items.
- If you have any items to return, they can be left in the tote that will be sitting by the table.
Virtual programs only will be offered this summer. Check our Facebook page to see what is offered. Virtual storytime has already begun for children ages 2-6. It’s a private group that you can request to join if you have a young child. There will be summer reading take home packets for families with children available in June, and we are working on having a story walk set up outside the library this summer for families to enjoy.
Please be patient with us during this transition period as we make every effort to keep out patrons and staff safe. Please know that all our efforts are done with your safety and ours as a top priority. Thank you so much for your support, and we hope to see you soon!
