1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Tyson Library welcomes our young area residents to join our “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program.
This free program is easy to start and can actually be completed much faster than it may seem at first. Reading just one book a day gets you 365 in one year, after all. And, you can repeat books!

Excellence in Reading Program
Mensa for Kids strives to promote a love of reading in kids and teens. To do this they offer an Excellence in Reading Program that will reward students with a t-shirt and certificate for reading through one of their grade appropriate lists. Tyson Library wants to promote this opportunity made available to children and teens and encourage them to participate.
If you have any questions about this program you can learn more on the Mensa for Kids website or contact our Youth Services Librarian Aly at aly@tysonlibrary.org.
Literacy Tools
Tyson Library has literacy tools like at-home storytime and book kits available for young readers. All you need to borrow these fun skill-building resources is your library card.
