Job Title: Youth Services Librarian

Reports to: Director

Status: Part-time

Salary: $12/hour

Hours: 25-30/week, including 1 Saturday per month

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Patron Check-In and Check-Out at the circulation desk.
  • Assist with shelving, restocking displays, and maintaining the overall appearance of the Children and YA library areas.
  • Plan and conduct exciting new programs for kids and teens.
  • Assist with promoting programs through fun displays, flyers, digital ads, and bulletin boards that showcase what the library has to offer.
  • Communicate with patrons via email, social media, and over the phone.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the periodic weeding of the children’s and YA collections.
  • Using an extensive knowledge of Children’s and YA literature, provide reader advisory services to young patrons and their parents.
  • Assist with circulation of staff duties as needed.
  •  Must be able to lift 15-30 pounds
  • Other tasks as assigned by the director.

Qualifications and Skills :

  • A high school diploma or equivalency
  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and caregivers.
  • Strong organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with digital technology, mobile devices, and social media
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and follow through on tasks
  • Work well both independently and collaboratively as part of the Children’s Services Department
